How to Kill a Company

So how do you take the most successful company in its segment and kill it while it’s still leading it’s segment? Professional CEO’s is how! Get one today and see your company turn to shit in front of your eyes. Most large organisations fail because as they grow, they massacre the culture and replace it with inflexible rules and regulations. Some little Hitler in HR with way too much time on their hands makes ‘policy’ guaranteed to loosely disguise the removal of benefit from employees and move it into the hands of shareholders. You can get away with a lot of this if you have a visionary leader who the staff will believe in and follow. In short someone who inspires more than they perspire. Some sweaty fat cat with little interest in the company beneath them and a mediocre track record is a sure fire method of annihilating the culture that made the company succeed in the first place.

I worked for such a company. When I joined the founding members were still running the company under the umbrella of a parent company that only partially hamstrung them. We were tiny (a couple of hundred people) and the parent company was gargantuan. It was like a speedboat towing an ocean liner. I say ‘was’, because the leader of this 35K strong global company has through sharp tactical playing and strategic insight, reduced it to nothing in a mere 2 years. He is now destroying the company I work for.

This company in the last five years has had a number of temporary CEO’s unable to make decisions regarding the future of the company when they needed to be made and the staff begged them to act. Followed by a few fuckwitted egomaniac professional CEO’s who again each hacked and burned a little of the company culture and collective will to live.

Once their work here is done they will get an astounding severance package and a glowing recommendation to go and reap havoc elsewhere at someone else’s dime. Any fool could do it… I think I might apply…
